We generally employ paralegals in our team on a casual and “as needs” basis, but generally most paralegals will work with us 2 or 3 days per week, depending on their university commitments, increasing their work days (and moving from more administrative to more legal work) as they gain more experience. We accept 2nd year to final year university students for our paralegal positions.
Massons aims to employ graduates straight from its paralegal and clerkship programs. This ensures that our graduates are already advanced in their legal knowledge and skills, even before they complete their final “practical legal training” component of study and are admitted as lawyers.
Massons considers that diversity is the path to an evolved legal practice. We encourage applications from law students of all cultural and academic backgrounds and invite applicants to identify any aspects of their cultural or personal background (eg indigenous, refugee, rural etc) and any academic, community or social engagement or interests (eg sport, the arts, volunteering, passions or social causes) which they believe would contribute positively to the quality of cross-thought and ideation within our firm.
If you would like to be considered for a paralegal position, and you are in your penultimate year at university, we recommend that you apply for a placement in our next Clerkship Program http://massons.com/job/clerkship-program/. During busy periods (usually June and December), we may also have paralegal positions available for exceptional candidates outside the formal clerkship program. If you are a law student, and you:
then please send your resume, academic transcript and a cover letter addressing the above criteria, to firstname.lastname@example.org. We will then keep your application on file and will contact suitable applicants if and when an opportunity arises.
